Research helps disabled students in Tanzania

  • Elly Macha, a blind student from Tanzania completed her PhD at Leeds University in the UK. Elly's research examined the difficulties faced by visually impaired women in Tanzania entering higher education. DAAT provided funding for her field work in Tanzania, which focused on the Wagogo tribe in central Tanzania

  • Eurelia Muyinga took a career break from her job as Dean of Students at the Open University of Tanzania to study for her PhD at Reading University. Her researched examined counselling and support for visually impaired university students in Tanzania. DAAT provided financial support for her fieldwork in Tanzania. Eurelia is now in a position to play a key role in the development of OUT's services for visually impaired students.
